A Splash of Vibrance

Robert Clerc Colour has expanded into beautiful little donut earrings adorned with coloured stones. They are bright and vibrant, especially against the skin and match very well with other pieces from the resin collection. I have been wearing purple with black and white beads alongside a resin water drop in magenta and I love the way the pieces work together.

Colourful Treasures

Today was my first day at Robert Clerc Jewellery, and I had the exciting privilege of seeing Robert's latest scarab design in resin. They are the largest scale of wearable scarab ring he's made so far, and they are very striking, especially the obisidian-like black. I love the beautiful sheen the morning sun gave to the colours.

This is my first entry as the new writer for The Robert Clerc Diary, all previous posts were written by Sarah Marland.

The black scarab ring....
...and in red.

The red heart ring.

The heart ring not only looked fantastic by itself, but fitted together as a pair.
Red paired with turquoise.

Swivel Design

The Swivel Ring design was originally created by the Egyptians as a ceremonial piece of jewellery that provided the means to produce a signature. The swivel action allowed the motif to rotate, the signature was carved on the base of the motif & when pressed into hot sealing wax produced a seal.

Robert adapted the concept in 1975 to produce a very distinctive setting for several of his motifs. The swivel concept also works well with a solitaire diamond. The design is strong, the square shaped shank is comfortable between the fingers & encourages the diamond to sit in the correct position.

The Swivel design is a favourite with Robert's clients.

Toks & Loren

Toks & Loren brought a great sense of excitement into our shop on Saturday. He put his fingers on the cobalt blue guitar and filled the room with magnetic vibrations.  His natural grace & cool rhythm thrilled our clients & attracted a lot of passersby. Loren styled herself in our pieces and tapped her feet in tune with Toks. He & Loren loved the resin & Loren left wearing a turquoise heart.

Here comes the sun.

Strolling through Woollahra yesterday, I was captivated by the joy of spring. The scent of the perfume created by reborn trees and flowers, stimulated my senses. I made my way up Queen St to Strobe, the local hair salon. I took some shots of the beautiful stylist Vanessa, I thought our resin bangles look so fabulous on her. Saturday is our favourite day in Woollahra, there is always a dynamic atmosphere created by the variety of active and colourful people in a weekend frame of mind. The combination of Saturday and Spring is a delight!

In the studio with Andy Baker

Yesterday I had the privilege of spending some time with celebrity photographer Andy Baker in his studio. At first I completely forgot the purpose of being there as I pondered around looking at the priceless photos framed on the aged white walls, a rugged Australian flag and hobby motorbikes in repair. I was quickly reminded of why I was there once I noticed the hundreds of thousands of camera gadgets and thingamajigs Andy had. He gave us some tips on photographing the new resin pieces and some little tricks of the trade. The studio was filled with natural light, a hum of Radiohead in the background and a crisp feel as the rain pattered lightly outside. We left with some brilliant photos and ideas. I have shared a few of these displaying our beautiful new Robert Clerc Colour Bangles. I did my best to capture their full coloured sculptured exterior. It was a great insight into the life of a world renowned photographer.

The Blue Spinach Family

One of our favourite Sydney families came to visit. With their smiley faces and sandy hair, they each found a personal favourite piece from our new collection, Robert Clerc Colour.

Jake, a clever and dynamic young artist and his sister Ruby, a high-spirited 3 year old fashionista, had fun mixing and matching our assortment of pendants and new bangles. Their cheeky Dad Mark couldn’t help but attempt to bite a piece out of the ever so tempting Scarab sculpture. In the midst of all the fun their Earth Mother Jane dressed their dog, energetic Bolt, in a cobalt blue Rainbow Serpent pendant. It was so great to see the reactions and interest from such a diverse range of personalities.

The Blue Spinach family are precious and colourful, both inside and out.

Robert Clerc Colour

Introducing our latest collection; Robert Clerc Colour.

Worn by Robert's children Laetitia and Orlando these pieces bring vibrance and fun to any age, gender or style. Filled with sunshine, the designs are available in all the colours of the rainbow.

Robert Clerc Colour comes in an array of motifs including Rainbow Serpents, Hearts and Scarabs with more creations in the process.

The pieces resemble shiny wobbly jelly but are as hard as rock. When they are not being worn, they sit perfectly on your dressing table, rear view mirror or window hatch as a sun catcher.

I have been wearing a single crimson heart on silk around my neck and adore its lively simplicity.

Nic our Neighbour

Nic our neighbour walks by our shop everyday. He is usually head banging past to his heavy metal music. Often wearing pieces from his broad and wonderful memorabilia collection, he stops for a wave with a joyous smile and continues stomping along to the beat of the tunes he is ever so passionate about.

He is not only a popular guy in Woollahra and Paddington, but has met more celebrities than I can even name. This includes Slash, his music idol. He recently purchased a Slash signature collectors guitar. We had to capture and document the moment of heavy metal love and musical pride. I couldn't help but photograph his detailed Guns and Roses jacket which allied perfectly with Robert's leather vest.

We enjoy Nic because of his wild enthusiasm of life. He is a happy and joyful person and is so bright he makes Windsor Street look like the Yellow Brick Road.

Colourful Sculptures

In the past week we have been experimenting with a new material and have come up with exciting results. To our delight a vast variety of exquisite colours and shades have been created. With a fascinating jelly like appearance, they are cute as a button. Made using resin, they are much more affordable than the bronzes and sit perfectly beside our more colourful pieces.

The Double Sided Scarab Pendant

Inspired by our Scarab Sculpture, this 18ct white gold, double sided pendant is set with 2.00cts of fine quality, brilliant cut diamonds.

This latest design from the scarab collection is a full bodied sculptural shape. It creates a cushion effect around the neck, that makes you want to hold the scarab.

Handmade Bowls and Flutes

This rainy week Robert has been working on a collection of colourfully vibrant glass + silver sculptures. They are hand blown to Roberts specific design, then tipped with contrast colour. Our sterling silver motifs are attached and meticulous days of focus are spent creating a flawless finish.
Varying from colours scarlet red and cobalt blue, to lime green and violet purple, they add a lively vibe to any room. Even when its pouring down with rain.

The Mini Sculpture Collection

Made from solid bronze with endless hours of design and detail perfecting, these beautiful baby sculptures were created. The charcoal black and rusted red colouring is the outcome of heat applied permanent patina. Weighty yet petite these are another precious echo of Robert's creative mind.
